Gregg Mauroni, Artistic Director
Gregg Robert Mauroni is a longtime resident of Central Pennsylvania having returned to the Keystone state after initially working in New Jersey. Mr. Mauroni earned both his Bachelor of Science and Masters in Music Education from Penn State University. As an undergraduate, he received Jury Recognition from the piano faculty and assisted in directing several Penn State ensembles, including Essence of Joy with his mentor, Dr. Anthony Leach.
More recently, Mr. Mauroni’s graduate studies have delved into researching the life-long opportunities for music-making. With their permission, Voices of the Valley was used as the centerpiece of Mauroni’s research along with other collaborations including their Student Scholarship Program, regional choral groups, and regional theater organizations. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Music Education with plans to expound upon his research in these areas.
Mauroni has enjoyed tenures at Roxbury High School in Succasunna, NJ and Central Dauphin East High School in Harrisburg, PA. He has been Music Director for Theatre Harrisburg’s productions of “Addams Family” and “ White Christmas,” as well as Open Stage of Harrisburg’s production of “Crowns.”
He has been an invited accompanist for ensembles including the New Jersey All-State Chorus, Harrisburg Singers, Susquehanna Youth Chorale and PMEA Songfest with conductor Nick Page. Mr. Mauroni is a sought after choral clinician and is a commissioned arranger for several ensembles including the award-winning gospel choir, “Urbane.”
Mr. Mauroni first began directing Voices of the Valley in 2007, after the passing of Dr. Pierce Getz, the group’s founder. Mauroni was a member of the then named, Lebanon Valley College Alumni Chorale under Dr. Getz and has directed his focus to continue the fine music quality established at the group’s inception. This is his 10th season as Artistic Director of the Voices of the Valley.
